Do you have something nice to say?
Do you have feedback for me?
Do you see an embarrassing typo (let’s give me the benefit of the doubt) or a broken link?
Post a comment here and I’ll get to it right away.

Or if you have something more private to say, email me at jeannie (at) womantalk (dot) org. Whether you email me or post a comment here I will respond to you personally, unless, of course, you are spewing wrath and malice and don’t deserve to be answered.

Jeannie, what an amazing story you posted about your life-very happy for you and the little one to come along if this has not happened yet- This blogging is all new to me and I’m not sure if I am doing this right but I guess I will find out- so I will make this short and if I hear from you I will be shall I say more informative-I live in the N.W. and it is very cold out here to say the least with snow on the way-which I detest- Hope to hear from you and we will continue on!

    Hello Jeannie,

I was sent the link to your blog by Al who is an old friend. When I read you were considering another home birth I thought I would share our experience. Aaron, my oldest son was born in January ‘68, delivered at Art Risley’s house on Roosevelt Lane in the canyon by Dr. Henry G. Bieler who was the only Dr. at the time that would do home delivery. If you put a personal ad in the Laguna paper and ask if anyone was delivered or had their baby delivered by Dr. Bieler I am sure you’d get a least a dozen replies. He practiced out of his home in Capistrano Beach and wrote two books, ‘Food is Your Best Medicine’ and ‘The Natural Way to Sexual Health’. He developed a diet for pregnant mothers that would prepare the body for time of labor. He was an endocrinologist ( as well as an artist, musician, and wood carver) that used diet to rebuild and replenish the body when it became toxic. I considered him to be one of those that are mystics in their field.
At the same time we (my wife Sheila and I) met Fran Mineo who had developed a child birthing technique based on the Lamaze method from France. It focused on breathing and diaphragm and learning to consciously relax during contractions. Again, there are probably many mothers still in that area that went to her. Sheila learned to teach Childbirth Without Pain (what Fran called it) and taught a few hundred mothers over the next ten years. One idea that Fran had was to wet clean towels, wrap them in foil and put them in the freezer. During labor we would take them out pop them into the oven to thaw out and warm up and they made excellent compresses.
After the birth of Aaron and the guidance of these two great people when Josh came along two years later we did it ourselves at home, just Sheila and I ( watched by Shanti our 31/2 year old girl) and everything went fine.
All the best to you and Chad, Peter

I too had a baby delivered by Dr. Bieler in Laguna Beach in 1968. I think this would make a great documentary film. I’m actually producing/writing a script about my life as a hippie in LB and there are scenes about Dr. B delivering two different little girls, mine and a friends. I’d love to get a photo of him so I can cast someone who looks similar. Do you have one. Please e-mail me when you can. Thanks, Pilar

You are pregnant!!?? Wow, that is so exciting! I’m so happy for you…learning that other women are pregnant or having babies makes me want another one! I’ll have to keep up on your blog to see what’s going on with you.
Oh, Lily talks now…a little…it’s too cute.

I was looking up information on Dr. Bieler babies and happened on this site. I was brought into this world in 1951 by Dr. Bieler a wonderful genious of a man. I have to say I owe my strong bones, and healthy body to Dr. Bieler and my mother, and aunt who found Dr. Bieler. Looking for other Bieler babies and any information that they may have to share about their health and lifestyle. I have been negligent in my eating habits over the years but I am ready to return to Dr. Bieler’s diet.
I wish my husband felt the same way. His health would improve significantly, plus we could share a long, healthy life together.

I just fell into this website and your comments on being delivered by Dr. Bieler. I had a daughter born in 1968 who was delivered by him in Laguna Beach Califonia. Would love to have a contact of your mother. I’m making a film about my life and including the character of Dr. Bieler. I may also get around to doing a documentary on him. So I’d love to be in contact with as many people who knew him. Thanks. I hope you get this, Pilar Walsh
